|About Bodies in Flight|
We make performance work that has at its heart our contemporary, everyday experience of being caught between our physical and psychological selves. The encounter between flesh and text where words move and flesh utters, where the ordinary is made central and rendered unique.|
We are fascinated by this in-between: between body and mind, capability and desire, between the everyday and the extraordinary, between technologies of sound and vision – the tongue and the camera, between artistry and pedagogy.
Our work has often been described as cutting edge & accessible, attracting a wide cross-section of audiences. This is because our work is about uncovering the hidden, unspoken feelings and passions in everyday events, making these experiences visible as choreography & poetry. The nature of our cross-disciplinary projects enables us to sit comfortably in and alongside a number of categories and perform at a diverse range of venues and festivals.
We have a significant regional, national and international profile and have toured extensively. Formed in 1990, the company is led by choreographer Sara Giddens and writer Simon Jones.
|What can we do?|
We offer performances, laboratories, lectures, seminars, mentoring, consultancy, residencies, and workshops. All of this is influenced by our profoundly collaborative method, the way we make work, our passion for ideas and fascination with the very nature of collaboration, how one media collides and colludes with another.|
Innovative means of documentation and its ever wider dissemination informs our key concern to share our working methods.
